What is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)?
Created in 1986 by Steve Hayes, ACT was the first of the "third wave” of psychotherapies. There is currently a large body of evidence to support its effectiveness.
ACT can be used with individuals, couples and groups, both as brief therapy or long term therapy, with a wide range of people. ACT allows the therapist to create and individualize their own mindfulness techniques, or even to co-create them with clients. Which allows me to individually tailor an individual mindfulness plan for everyone.
